This topic is too broad for a report. Narrow it. 1. **Propose four narrowing axes** — population, period, region, perspective, or point of contention, whichever fit. 2. Combine axes into five specific topics, **each phrased as a question.** 3. Per candidate: - **How hard the sources are to get** (high/medium/low), and what kind you would need - Whether it fits the Length given below - **Whether the conclusion is foregone** — *a good topic has something genuinely at stake* 4. Rank them and say why the top one wins. 5. Flag candidates that look narrow but still require surveying the whole field.
After pasting, fill in the fields at the bottom (Length · Topic · Subject)
What this prompt does
A broad topic feels permissive and produces nothing. This narrows along four axes and rejects candidates whose conclusion is already obvious.
